This article presents a transcript of an interview with the psychologist, researcher and reference author in the field of hypnosis Irving Kirsch, PhD. The interview took place in one of his visits to Portugal, and covers the main topics for a basic introduction to the theme of clinical and experimental hypnosis, allowing both professionals and public to better understand what is hypnosis, its applications in clinical and health contexts, and the state of the art of the research in the field. Professional issues such as the decision about using hypnosis in health care as well as how to choose legitimate opportunities of training are also addressed.
