^lpt^aTem sido corrente a afirmação de que vivemos, na cultura contemporânea, sob o signo do narcisismo; e no campo da psicanálise isso aparece freqüentemente através das referências ao crescimento das patologias chamadas narcísicas. Procuramos mostrar que as patologias narcísicas são pautadas pelo mecanismo da clivagem mais do que pela recalcamento. Entendemos que o conceito de narcisismo em psicanálise é essencial para a compreensão das formas de constituição das subjetividades contemporâneas.^lpt^aThe statement that we live under the sign of narcissism in our contemporary culture has become common and, in the field of psychoanalysis, this reference has occurred frequently as a result of the increase of the so-called narcissistic pathologies. We have sought to demonstrate that the narcissistic pathologies are more often guided by the seizure (clivagem) mechanism than by the repression. We understand that the concept of narcissism in psychoanalysis theory is essential for the comprehension of the contemporary subjectivities constitution.
