Abstract

ALMEIDA, Iris  and  SOEIRO, Cristina. Avaliação de risco de violência conjugal: Versão para polícias (SARA: PV). Aná. Psicológica [online]. 2010, vol.28, n.1, pp.179-192. ISSN 0870-8231.

The purpose of this research is to adapt The Brief version of Spousal Assault Risk Assessment (Kropp, Hart, & Belfrage, 2005) known by B-SAFER or SARA: PV to Portuguese population. The main goal is to introduce a systematic, standardized and practically useful framework for gathering and analyzing information to help the making decisions process about spousal assault risk assessment. The domestic violence teams from GNR and PSP used the SARA: PV and the Conflict Tactics Scale (CTS, Straus, 1979) into 87 cases of domestic violence in Lisbon. The results show us that the risk factors related with spousal assault history are more present than psychosocial adjustment. The offenders with a spousal assault history have higher results in the outcome of SARA: PV. We can identify positive and significant correlations between the two tools. It was concluded that reliability and validity levels were good for Portuguese population.

Keywords : Risk assessment; Risk factors; Spousal violence.
