Attachment Stability from infancy to preschoolers was studied in a sample that includes two countries - Portugal and the US -. The study examined associations between infant-mother secure base behaviour and attachment representation at preschooler years. 25 mother - child Portuguese dyads and 47 mother - child american dyads participated in the study. The quality of the children’s secure base behaviour was assessed with the Attachment Behaviour Q-Set (AQS) (Waters, 1995) and tree years later, to assess de quality and the security of the internal representations of the attachment relationship it was used Attachment Story Completion Task (ASCT) (Bretherton & Ridgeway, 1990). Correlations between AQS security and ASCT security were found. In this sample, internal working models seem to be relatively stable over a significant period of time.
