The present paper discusses some theoretical perspectives of the developmental process, more specifically, at the level of the multiple factors contributing to child socio and emotional development. The authors aim to highlight the concept that development is constrained by both biological and contextual characteristics. Both parent/child interactions and peer relations are considered in this paper as critical developmental contexts.
