In this article we review the main research theory concerning sexual orientation, transitions and fluctuations, specially focusing on the Lisa Diamond studies on transitions between sexual identity, behaviour and attractions. Presented are also the most relevant results on gender differences in sexual orientation, which find these differences more significant than identity categories of sexual orientation.
