This article presents some of the many myths surrounding sexual orientation in an attempt to discuss how there is no scientific support for their existence. Subsequently, the authors present the ethical guidelines promoted by APA in regards to lesbian, gay and bisexual people. Mental health professionals should thus attempt to understand the specific circumstances of lesbian, gay and bisexual people and engage in formation and training in issues of diversity.
