RIBEIRO, J. Pais    RAIMUNDO, A.. Satisfação sexual e percepção de saúde em mulheres com incontinência urinária. []. , 23, 3, pp.305-314. ISSN 0870-8231.

Urinary incontinence (UI) is a common problem among women of nearly all ages. The hygienic problem of UI impacts health perception or quality of life, sexual life satisfaction with sexual life. The aims of the present study were to describe the relationships between demographic variables, clinical variables related with IU (length of symptoms, frequency of urinary leakage, perception of severity of IU), health perception and sexual satisfaction. 93 women with a diagnostic of UI respond to the Urogenital Distress Inventory by Dugan et al. (1998), the Self-Esteem and Relationship Questionnaire by Cappeleri et al. (2002), and the SF-8, a reduced form of the SF-36 developed by Ware et al. (1993). Result shows that age, education, clinical data of IU (length of symptoms, perception of severity of IU), and symptoms of IU are statistically related with health perception and sexual satisfaction. Multiple linear regression shows that variables that explain best sexual satisfaction are mental health, frequency of sexual activity and education (more sexual activity, more education and better mental health are related with better sexual satisfaction). Results suggest that psychological support visa mental adjustment can contribute to better adjustment to UI.
