GALINHA, Iolanda Costa    PAIS-RIBEIRO, José Luis. Contribuição para o estudo da versão portuguesa da Positive and NegativeAffect Schedule (PANAS): II - Estudo psicométrico. []. , 23, 2, pp.219-227. ISSN 0870-8231.

Study of adaptation of the Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS; Watson, Clark & Tellegen, 1988) to the Portuguese population. The methodology design intended to replicate the methodology of the development of the original scale. As the original study, we asked 348 university students to answer in what extent did they experienced the Portuguese translation of the 60 emotions list from Zevon and Tellegen (1982), "during the past few day" and "during the pas few weeks", in a 5 point scale. The Portuguese version of the PANAS consists in a 20 emotions checklist with two sub scales, the positive affect and the negative affect. The psychometric data analyses resulted in a Portuguese version very similar to the original scale, sharing 13 items of the 20 from the American scale. All the original categories of emotion are represented in the Portuguese PANAS. Results indicate a good internal consistency reliability of the scale. Results indicate a good internal consistency α=.86 for the positive affect scale and α=.89 for the negative affect scale. As expected and similar to the original scale, the correlation between the positive and negative affect scale situated near zero (r=-.10), stating the orthogonality between the subscales of positive and negative affect.
