RODRIGUES, Ana et al. Memória de cuidados na infância, estilo de vinculação e qualidade da relação com pessoas significativas: Estudo com grávidas adolescentes. []. , 22, 4, pp.643-665. ISSN 0870-8231.

The aim of the present study is to evaluate the influence of the memories of childhood parental care in the attachment style and the quality of the relationship with significant others during pregnancy. A sample of 48 adolescents was evaluated, in the third trimester of pregnancy, with the following instruments: Inventory for Assessing Memories of Parental Rearing Behaviour (EMBU) (Perris, Jacobson, Lindstorm, von Knorring, & Perris, 1980), Attachment Style Interview (ASI) (Bifulco, Figueiredo, Guedeney, Gorman, Hayes, et al., 2004) and Self Evaluation and Social Support (SESS) (Brown et al., 1990), to assess the mother's memories of parental care, attachment style and quality of the social support and of the relationship with significant others. Results suggest that the quality of childhood parental care is a determinant factor to the attachment style observed in pregnant adolescents; mostly rejection and lack of emotional support from both parents seem to be determinant for the emergence of insecure attachment strategies. Furthermore, the quality of childhood parental care - emotional support from the mother and rejection from both parents - seems also to be related with the adolescent's quality of the relationship with the partner and a significant other, during pregnancy. There are some evidences that childhood parental care experiences may influence the quality of the relationship with significant in adolescence/adulthood because it contributes into the constructions of secure and insecure attachment strategies.

: Memories of infant parental care; attachment style; relationship quality with significant people; teenage motherhood.
