This article portrays the historical background of LPDM - Social Resources Centre, founded in 1956 with the objective of supporting people with physical handicap and their families. Throughout more than four decades of activities, this institution progressively extended its range of action, accompanying the evolution of concepts, principles and intervention paradigms in Rehabilitation and Social Inclusion. Today, it is organized as a Social Resources Centre, offering a set of comprehensive and multidimensional answers in promoting the equality of opportunities and in stating of the rights of citizenship for all People without exception.
