Abstract

BENAVENTE, Renata. Perturbação de comportamento na infância: diagnóstico, etiologia, tratamento e propostas de investigação futura . Aná. Psicológica [online]. 2001, vol.19, n.2, pp.321-329. ISSN 0870-8231.

Children conduct problems is the issue of the present paper. There are many studies that relate this kind of disrupted behavior with future criminality, psychiatric disturbance, drug abuse and difficulties in social integration in adulthood. That's why we believe it's important to understand and diagnose this disturbance as soon as possible to make early treatment possible. The diagnosis is based on the DSM-III-R, and peers relations, stealing and lying are considered. We exhibit some of the psychoanalytic theories that explain conduct problems in children and some of the treatment strategies considering family, school and peers influences. Removing children away from their families by placement in foster families or institutions as a way to promote the psychotherapeutic process is also discussed. Finally, future investigation hypotheses about early conduct problems are made.

Keywords : Childhood; conduct problems; lying; stealing; family.
