Abstract

CUNHA, Miguel Pina e; CUNHA, João Vieira da  and  CAIXEIRINHO, Jesuína. Processos de controlo nas organizações: do controlo da flexibilidade à flexibilidade do controlo. Aná. Psicológica [online]. 2001, vol.19, n.2, pp.261-278. ISSN 0870-8231.

This paper presents a general overview of organizational control. It argues that organizations have been changing the way they control their members by shifting from the control of flexibility to the flexibility of control. In order to do so, traditional forms of obtrusive control are being substituted by more inobtrusive controls. To illustrate these changes, the paper discusses possible alternatives of control, presents the major typologies of organizational control, and discusses the particular case of control in trust-based organizations, introducing the concept of the minimal network.

Keywords : Control; flexibility; minimal networks.
