In this article we present, analyse and discuss a current theoretical proposal of the five factor model of personality in the adult years. The five factor theory of personality aims to give a frame of reference to the Big Five, defend them against some critics and answer of some of the central questions raised by classic theories of personality. The five factor theory is meant to fill a gap in the field of personological theorizing. Although a necessary and fruitful proposal, it still awaits for the necessary corroboration. Nevertheless it is, in our perspective, a praiseworthy organisation of the personological kaleidoscope.
