^lpt^aHoje em dia, o ser humano comum não dá grande atenção à literatura, poesia, filosofia, pintura, ..., ou arte. Procura preferencialmente o que é rápida e facilmente consumível e que não o incomóda, cansa ou perturba demasiado. Neste artigo pretende-se investigar e compreender a forma como a imagem de uma pintura de Bosch (que retrata a morte e o além-morte) é percepcionada e representada. Apresenta-se um estudo exploratório cujos principais objectivos consistem em: apreender as dimensões de significação que estruturam os pensamentos, sentimentos e símbolos, relativamente à imagem, numa população formada por estudantes de gestão, história e psicologia social, de ambos os sexos; e analisar em que medida essas estruturas significantes diferenciam os grupos sociais considerados. Este estudo enquadra-se teoricamente no modelo das representações sociais, tal como foi inicialmente proposto por Moscovici (1961).^len^aNowadays, a common human being doesn't give much attention to literature, poetry, philosophy, painting, …, art. He usually prefers what is quickly and easily consumed, and what doesn't bother, irritate or perturbate him too much. In this article, we intend to analyse and understand the way how the image from a Bosch's painting (depicting death and the other side of death) is perceptioned and represented. Here we present an exploratory study with the aim to: apprehend the significance dimensions which structure the image thoughts, sentiments and symbols, in a population formed by management, history and social psychology students, men and women; and analyse how these significance structures differentiate the considered social groups. This study is theoreticaly framed on the social representations model, as it was first proposed by Moscovici (1961).
