In this article, the author argues about the equitity of the portuguese university system, using for the discussion the social composition of the university students. With the informations he got thanks to an inquiry that he applied to a representative sample of the students from the public and the private universities, allover the country, the author characterized these students and he compared them with the university students of the 60ties and with the portuguese population of nowadays. From these compairaisons, the author concludes about the strongly degree of inequitity of the portuguese university system, regarding the importance of the high classes between its students, although the igualitarist intentions existing in the speeches of the politicians.
