Abstract

SALGUEIRO, Emílio. O segundo erro de René Descartes: Diálogo e criatividade . Aná. Psicológica [online]. 1997, vol.15, n.2, pp.221-228. ISSN 0870-8231.

The author tries to analyse Descartes' errors (the separation of the mind from the body, and the separation between oneself and the others) under the light of Fernando Pessoa's poetical creativity and Sigmund Freud's scientific creativity. He underlines the importance of the dialogue in the construction of new ideas, puts the birth of psychoanalysis on Freud's refusal of Descartes' errors, and tries to understand these «errors» with the help of biographical facts and three dreams of Descartes himself. He considers important the fact that the new neuropsychology, that António Damásio (1994) is helping to build, gives its due importance to the body and its emotions, and to the rooting of the unconscious mental processes in the body itself. Finally, he proposes fruit-ful dialogues between neuropsychology and psychoanalysis.
