The goal of this paper is to define the concept of text plan and to apply it in textual analysis. First, it is presented a summary of two proposals on the subject (Adam 2002, Dicionário terminológico). Then, it is described the text plan's double dimension (content distribution and text segmentation), its macro and microstructural levels of analysis, and the opposition between conventional and occasional text plans. Finally, two texts of the genre monolingual dictionary and application are analyzed in order to test and validate the adopted definition of the concept.
