Abstract

LIMA, Erickaline Bezerra de  and  CIOTTI, Naira Neide. Censorship in brazilian theatre and the archive - forgive me for your betrayal by Nelson Rodrigues: a derridarian analysis. Diacrítica [online]. 2015, vol.29, n.3, pp.98-120. ISSN 0807-8967.

Questioning the file notion from Jacques Derrida, we revisit the history of censorship in Brazilian theater and the censorial process concerning the play Forgive me for You betraying me by the Brazilian playwright Nelson Falcão Rodrigues, with material provided by Miroel Silveira Archive (AMS / USP). The article aims to explore the paradoxes and concepts that characterize the file in order to understand the censorship actions against theatre plays and the attempts to intervene directly, prompting cuts and several changes - that allows us to consider the idea of dual authorship in the clash artist versus censorship. Thus, the effect of opening the file applying a Derridarian view means to be confronted with facts previously not taken into account about censorship as a file, expanding the historical dimension involved and also our ability of its analysis.

Keywords : censorship; archive; Nelson Rodrigues; Brazilian theater; Jacques Derrida; Archive Miroel Silveira.
