Resumo

This paper will focus on the work of Portuguese women artists, namely Ana Hatherly, Emília Nadal, Paula Rego and Clara Menéres, especially their artistic interventions regarding macro-political issues such as the dictatorship, the Revolution or the economic transformations emerging from the political and social order post 1974. Sculptures, films, assemblages and paintings will be put into dialogue so as to map feminine artistic production in Portugal, which was characterized by a growing intervention in public space.
