Addressing some of the problematizations that characterize the critical debate within the Indian Ocean Studies (IOS), the aim of this paper is to tackle the Indian Ocean as an alternative, transnational paradigm that will allow the setting up of new epistemologies and critical cartographies within the field of the so called African Literatures.
