Cultural Geography is concerned with the spatial distribution of geosymbols able to draw agencies and territoriality. The Sacred can materialize symbolically in the acts and trivial behavior of a group, such as eating, determining the construction of its own identities and evoking meanings and knowledge related to food. In this article, the Kaak Al Abbas, is studied as symbolic and essential food to the celebration of Ashura, a historical landmark depicted in the Karbala Battle of the tragedy responsible for jurisprudential and political split of Islam between Sunnis and Shiites. Its production, consumption and distribution are part of the annual ritualistic process in Brazil and the world, with symbolisms and meanings that configure identities, demarcate powers and erect territoriality. From a grounded approach in Cultural Geography and phenomenological philosophy, this article aims to describe and draw some pertinent reflections on food consumption in the field of geography from a religious perspective
