• The Portuguese Journal of Internal Medicine is the official magazine of the Sociedade Portuguesa de Medicina Interna (SPMI, Portuguese Society of Internal Medicine)

• The aim of this journal is the promotion of science and practice of Internal Medicine, covering all aspects of this medical speciality. The distinct kinds of papers submitted are peer reviewed: original work, revision, point of view, Medicine History, brief report, letter to the director, clinical case and image in Medicine, Cases Series and Guidelines/Consensus. The journal allows the publication of news and reports about the bylaws and activities of the Sociedade Portuguesa de Medicina Interna (SPMI, Portuguese Society of Internal Medicine).

• The Portuguese Journal of Internal Medicine is published since 1994, each three months, 4 issues each year.

• Journal following the ICMJE Recommendations (05/07/2015)

• The journal belongs to the list of magazines that fulfill the ICMJE Recommendations (International Committee fo Medical Journal Editors), as well as the EQUATOR Network.

The Portuguese Journal of Internal Medicine does not consider any work that was published previously or that awaits publication in other journals (the conference or congress summaries are the exception to this rule).

The Journal is entitled to use a plagiarism detector software in any submitted manuscript.

The published papers will be considered full journal property, and they shall not be completely or partially reproduced without an authorizing decision of the Editor-in-chief.
